What is a Fête?

A Fête in New Zealand is an outdoor event with  high end shopping from hand picked stalls that are mostly selling New Zealand made or designed products that you don't usually find in "bricks & mortor" stores. There is live music from local and New Zealand (or world) reknowned musicians. Possibly other entertainment like food or other demonstrations. They are usually held in park-like or garden settings which add to the garden-party atmosphere. It is not just a regular common free market.

The Cromwell Festive Fête is a shopping experience where people can come for a leisurely day out with friends, to enjoy wonderful food, local wines, beers and drinks while shopping for unique Christmas Gifts. There is amazing live entertainment and demonstrations as well as fun things for the kids.

We also support several local community groups with their fundraising:

Entry fee at the gate is $12 per adult and includes a complimentary Festive Fête Shopping Bag (limited number available), along with access to the huge number of amazing shopping stalls, divine food & wine & beer and live entertainment including:

The Fine Thyme Belles

Gina Bina

The Cemetery Road Band

Where it all began...

From a spur of the moment idea to our ninth year of the Festive Fete, we always have a ball bringing you all this premiere Central Otago Christmas shopping event.

When the call came to say that the Queensberry Fete was to be no more, Anthea was straight on the phone to Claire to say "we are going to put on a Fete". After years of attending events and shows as a stallholder, Anthea had the insider knowledge of how to make it work. And Clarie was the perfect partner in crime to create the Festive Fete.

Sadly, Claire has decided to step down from organising the Festive Fête, but she will be there to lend a hand on the day.

We also have a team of girls who have been with us from the very first who we employ to make the day run smoothly. They are the lovely ladies in the spotty tops who hand out our complimentary shopping bags, help decorate & set up, direct stallholders, and a multitude of other things for which we are always grateful.
